The Graduate Group in Avian Sciences is dedicated to increasing the diversity of persons provided with the opportunity to excel in obtaining a M.S. Degree. We will recognize and recruit highly capable students from a pool of diverse undergraduates in STEM fields at UC Davis and advertise our program broadly at universities across the nation. We seek students who (1) increase diversity (for example, minorities, women, physically challenged, gender identities and "first in family"), (2) provide vastly different individual experiences, and (3) engage in activities dedicated to promoting diversity of future student cohorts. With on-going mentoring and training, students matriculating from our program can continue their education or become part of a diverse workforce to ensure eminence for US science and technology.
